Daamini Devineni
I’m not my sexuality.
Not my religion,
Nor my bloodline.
I’m me.
Me in every form.
And everything I do,
Is my identity and my way,
To leave a lasting mark on you.
Me.
‘I’ means the love and blood coursing through my veins,
The passion and curiosity.
All I feel and react,
And everything in between.
I might not live,
According to your morals,
And that is solely and rightfully my way,
Of living and flourishing,
As an individual and as a human.
‘I’ means the period of time,
I’ve invested in this universe.
And nothing.
Can erase me,
My existence is profound and outlined.
It is your hate and betrayal,
That made me as strong as I am today,
That made me grow into this,
More comfortable and broader character,
That you helped me fit into.
Thank you,
Because it is only through your hate,
I’ve become someone I can look up to.
